1. Can I use the model A to work with stainless steel?
No - use the model B, it is designed for tougher material. Back
2. How can I tell if I have a model A or model B strapmaster?
Look for the bracket under the stationary lever – the model B has a bracket.  The model A does not have a bracket. Back

3. Can I order the same size punch and dies for a model A or B?
NO, they are NOT interchangeable. Back
4. Can one tool punch more than one size hole?
Yes, but you have to change punches and dies together. Back
5. How long does it take to change a punch and die?
About 3 minutes. Back
6. Why is my Strapmaster not cutting the material properly?
The blades are not aligned. Back
7. Why is the material "walking" between the blades?
The stop is missing. Back
8. Why is the Strapmaster teeth becoming disengaged?
The stop is not folded over. The Stop acts as to prevent the operator from lifting the moving lever too high. Back
9. Where can I buy a Strapmaster or punch and die?
From Shaw Development direct or from an authorized distributor – see distributor page. Back
10. Can I become a distributor?
Yes, we're looking for distributors in certain territories and overseas and welcome dealer inquiries (minimum buy 10 units per year). Back
11. Can I use alternate punches or blades?
No, they void the warranty and may cause damage or harm to the operator. The components in the Strapmaster have been tested and proven to work up to the maximum operating parameters of the tool. Back
12. Do you sell spare parts?
Yes, see the parts list under Model A or Model B. Back
13. How do I size the punch and die?
The die must be slightly smaller than the punch to allow for material clearance. Refer to the Recommended Die Sizes page for exact measurements.
14. Is there a better way to prevent disengaged teeth?
Yes, the teeth become disengaged because the "STOP", item 2 on the parts list, is worn or not properly adjusted. Make sure the bottome portion of the STOP is level with the upper portion of the BLADE, item 11. This will prevent the handle from over travel.
The STOP has a sharp radius on the front lower corner, if it is worn, well rounded or an older version (made from softer steel), you may order a new hardened STOP. The hardened STOP can be replaced by using the instructions www.strapmaster.biz/punchchange.html. If you have an older STOP made from soft steel, call Shaw for a special promotional offer to upgrade to a hardened STOP.
15. How long does the Strapmaster last?
We’ve had many users tell us the tool has lasted for over 20 years. Buy one and take care of it and it should last at least ten years with only a change in punch or die depending on how many holes are punched. Back
